A neighbor’s security camera captured a California man’s pickup and Corvette racecar driving away from his home in the early morning hours of Easter Sunday, heisted by unknown parties.
Now Simon Fry and his family are offering a $2,500 reward for the return of their white 2008 Corvette with a black hood and the number 75 written on the side, as well as their white 1999 Ford F250 and a black car trailer.
The vehicles have more than the usual value to the Fry family.
He had poured hours of hard work into the Corvette, but the pickup had been passed down to Fry’s father, who died from a heart attack in 2020, leaving it to Fry. “The truck’s way more sentimental for our family and the trailer that the car was on,” he explained to ABC10 News. “My dad and I had built it over a few years.”
Parking the vehicles for the first time in front of his home after a race, Fry woke up Easter Sunday morning to find the vehicles missing. “It was pretty rough,” he said. “It was really shocking. Definitely did not expect that.”
Now, the family is hoping a reward will help them get the vehicles back. “We are offering a reward if we find the vehicle in good condition or get information that leads to finding it,” said Fry, calling on whoever did it to do the right thing. “Take the reward, return it. It means a lot to the family.”
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the dispatch center of the Sacramento Police Department at 916-808-5471 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-HELP (4357). Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward. Anonymous tips can also be offered.
