Replacing Original Clutch on a '99 C5

1999 LS1 C5 with original clutch. Replacing :

  1. Pilot Bearing
  2. Clutch Disc
  3. Pressure Plate
  4. Release Bearing
  5. Clutch Master and Slave
  6. Drilled out restrictor in Slave
  7. Repair left Transaxle seal leaks
  8. Repair MN6 fluid leak

Here you can see how teammate Mike Lally can save you money on parts and the parts used to do the clutch

Ripping out Rebels Ass end

Release bearing was well worn out, the stupid Wazer restrictor in slave was drilled out on new one so clutch pedal returns back up quickly

Shown on end of drivetube that fits into clutch and flywheel

Clutch disc itself still had life left but both flywheel and pressure plate clearly showed heat damage

Notice the fluid on left side as sealer failed and allowed fluid to leak out

New LS6 Stock Clutch and Flywheel

Seal to fix left axle leak and new pilot bearing

Notice the large gap in old bearing due to heat and more HP

Trannie gets so hot during racing that the fluid foams and then pucks out the vent at the top and melted it !
